Kotoko-Hearts Cracker Bags 2.4 Billion
posted on Friday, 24th May 2013 - [ 725 views ]

Asante Kotoko made a big proceed harvest in Sunday’s Ghanaian derby against Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

It has emerged that Kotoko made in excess of GH¢240, 628 from gross ticket sales – a figure club officials say is unprecedented.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of the Porcupine Warriors.

“The executive chairman this morning at management and technical meeting expressed profound gratitude to the technical team, players and the supporters for their massive support yesterday,” Kotoko’s spokesman Listowell Bukarson told GHANASsoccernet.com

“By this record Kotoko have shown, it is the biggest football team in Ghana with the greatest support base.

“We will therefore want to ask our teeming supporters to continue to show such more support to the rest of the three home games as we seek to win the league trophy for the first time in four years.”

The massive attendance which translated in the huge reap of proceeds gives the Kumasi-based club a massive boost as they look to pay off its debts in recent Fifa fines.
