Kotoko Defender Baah Thrilled With Positive Return
posted on Friday, 24th May 2013 - [ 782 views ]

Asante Kotoko defender Gideon Baah is over the moon after he marked his return to the Premier League with the winner against Mighty Jets on Saturday.

The former Sporting Mirren captain played in the Ghana Premier League for the first time since he recovered from a serious injury he suffered two years ago.

Baah has been unable to dislodge impressive left-full back Baba Abdul Rahman since he returned but head coach Maxwell Konadu threw him into the hat and he did not disappoint.

His surging runs and telepathic understanding with striker Ahmed Toure was a delight to watch at the Accra Sports stadium as he scored an incredible tap-in from close range to hand the Porcupine Warriors a deserved 2-0 win.

The left-back initiated a swift counter-attack from the left and finished off a neat through pass from Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure who had replaced Kofi Nti Boakye moments after the break.

He broke into tears of joy after scoring his first competitive goal for the club since recovering from the horrible injury.

“It was an emotional moment for me and I couldn’t help it when the tears started flowing through my eyes,” Baah told GHANAsoccernet.com

“The past two years have been difficult for me because of the injury I sustained and I’m grateful to God he has seen me through and now playing again.

“I always had hope in Him (God) that he will never me alone in those trying times and I am very happy that I am back in the team.

“It’s not about me but the most important thing is the collective unity of the team and the quest to win the Premier League title. I thank all the fans for their prayers and support,”
