Musician Reggie Zippy turns accountant in London
posted on Tuesday, 18th June 2013 - [ 457 views ]

After producing some of Ghana’s finest tunes, Hip life and Ragga artiste, Reggie Zippy known in real life as Reginald Kojo Ainooson has joined the world of accountants.

The Hit and Run singer who is currently in London with his family left Ghana two years ago to pursue his dreams and also continue to work on his next album. He won the Music for Development award at the 2011 edition of the Ghana Music Awards.

Reggie announced his new feat on Facebook Monday disclosing he was proud to be an accountant.

He wrote, “Its 4:40am in the morning and here I sit in my office calculating thousands of pounds with the help of lucozade. Singer turns accountant, wobeka nokre.”

He confirmed the achievement in an exclusive interview with Hitz Entertainment News. He said, “I am so happy, I feel very fulfilled and excited about it. At a point in my life, I just wanted to do something more academic, so having trained as an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), I feel very good and very happy about it.”

The AAT is an accountancy organisation with over 120,000 members worldwide. It is a higher level qualification which entitles those who have completed the exams and obtained relevant supervised work experience to call themselves accountants. The AAT is based in London but there are branches all over the UK and the rest of the world.

Reggie however said being an accountant doesn’t mean he will not do music and that, he was still recording because when he was leaving Ghana, he told his fans and friends that he wanted to take his music to the next level; breaking through onto the international market.

He disclosed that he was working with some UK producers on his songs to achieve that goal. “Last weekend I was at the studios and next weekend I will go back to the studio again to work with a few of the UK artistes.”

Reggie said he was working around the clock to release an album that will make Ghanaians and the whole of Africa proud.

He will be coming to Ghana later this year with his family to release his album.
