Accra & Kumasi brings too much talent
posted on Tuesday, 6th December 2016 - [ 2198 views ]

The Big in Ghana Talent Hunt, sponsored by Bavaria, is in search for the best musical talent from Tema, Takoradi, Kumasi and Accra to represent their cities on the FOKN Bois tour.

Two artists were selected both in Takoradi and in Tema. This weekend the judges stood up to the challenge of picking the two best artists from Kumasi and Accra. Choosing just two artists in Accra proved to be very difficult because it had so much to offer.

The winners in Kumasi, N.T.4. and Blakz, turned out to be rap duos with completely different styles but a same level of quality. Overall the level of lyrical content and music really stood out in Kumasi. In Accra things got crazy because more than a one hundred artists showed up ready to perform. The organization ran out of registration forms and time to listen to all contestants. The artists that made it to the venue on time were rewarded with their chance to shine. Those who were late will have to wait for next year’s event.

In Accra, the judges chose Taurian Deveaux, an impressive female vocalist and Richie, a singer songwriter who accompanied his lyrics by guitar. After the Accra event the judges felt that there was still one contestant missing amongst the finalists. They decided to pull one wild card to give this amazing artist the chance to share the big stage with Efya, Yaa Pono and FOKN Bois. The name of this artist is Bright. His stage presence, punch lines and audience interactions exceeded all expectations.

“I’m really happy to see Bryte in the next round. His future as a musician is so bright he must wear shades” said Yaa Pono about the judges decision.

This following week the finalists will play live for FOKN Bois, who will arrive in Accra on Wednesday from their Europe tour. The FOKN Bois, with help from EFYA & Yaa Pono, will bring the list down to one artist from each city who will join them on their tour and stand the chance to win GHC 20.000 worth of prizes.
